Rockhampton’s Leigh Williams picked up his first heat win of the season in the opening heat of the night. Pascoe was next across the line in second, from another Rockhampton resident in Harry Doyle in third.
Doyle crossed the line first in heat two, but was relegated to third after being deemed by the stewards to have made the pass for the lead on the infield. Mark Pagel was the beneficiary taking the heat win from Pascoe in second.
David Musch was victorious in the penultimate heat of the evening, leading the way from ‘The Joker’ Steve Jordan in second, and Steve Potts in third.
Michael Hally got the best of the field in the final heat of the night. Williams crossed the line in second, ahead of a photo finish for third between Doyle and Pascoe with Doyle taking third by twenty five thousandths of a second.
Pascoe secured pole position for the twenty five lap main event after winning the odd point scorers dash. Pascoe was joined by Doyle on the front row. Musch and Williams would start from row two, with Jordan and Hally set to launch from row three.
Pascoe jumped out to an early advantage to lead the opening lap from Doyle, Musch, Williams, and Jordan.
Pascoe skipped out to a handy lead out front, as Doyle put a small gap between himself and Musch.
Jordan and Hally battled it out over fifth position, with the position changing hands on a couple of occasions before Jordan settled into fifth position.
Out front Pascoe stretched his legs and was showing his best form as he put a huge gap between himself and the chasing pack.
Williams faced plenty of pressure from Jordan and Hally, but was able to thwart the challenges to hold on to fourth position.
Pascoe went on to record a dominant victory, for the third win of his career and first at Gympie.
Doyle crossed the line in second, with Musch rounding out the podium in third. Williams held on to fourth, ahead of Jordan in fifth, and Hally in sixth. Potts crossed the line in seventh, from WA’s Tristan Green in eighth, and Tobie Powe rounding out the finishers in ninth.
