PASCOE POCKETS 20K IN GLADSTONE!

Brad Pascoe has gone back to back in the Sue Hawkings Memorial at McCosker Gladstone Speedway bagging a massive $20000 in the process.
Victoria’s Mick Nicola Snr kicked off his evening in strong fashion, leading from start to finish in the opening heat of the night. Pascoe crossed the line in second, from the returning Gavin Northfield in third.
Zac Brims continued his recent good form with a dominant win in heat two. Brims led the way from Nash Granger in second, and David Musch in third.
Toowoomba’s Sean Black was too good in the final heat of the first round, leading the way from Mitchell Gee in second, and Steve Potts in third.
Pascoe dominated the action in heat four, crossing the line nearly three seconds clear of Todd Atkins in second, and National Champion Joel Berkley in third.
Sam Hughes was victorious in tightly contested fifth heat, with the top three separated by less than a second. Harry Doyle crossed the line in second, ahead of Brims in third.
Michael Hally made it six different heat winners from six heats when he won heat six. Hally led the way from Leigh Williams in second, and Northfield in third.
Berkley took out a commanding victory in heat seven, crossing the line three seconds ahead of Black in second, and Atkins in third.
Brims crossed the line first in heat eight, but was relegated to third after being pinged for an infield pass. Pascoe inherited the win, ahead of Williams in second.
Gee picked up his first heat win aboard the turbocharged Vohland Chassis in the final heat of the evening. Will Hockley was next across the line in second, ahead of Hally who rounded out the podium in third.
After being sixth in the points standings after three rounds of heats, Berkley went fastest in the shootout to secure pole position for the thirty five lap main event.
Pascoe would join Berkley on the front row for the decider, with Brims and Williams set to launch from row two.
Berkley got the best of the initial start before a spin in the back of the pack brought out the first caution flag of the race.
Pascoe got a much better getaway at the second time of asking, and edged ahead of Berkley who made contact with the left rear of Pascoe and barrelled towards the infield.
Berkley spun the car and ended back up on the racing surface leaving Hally with nowhere to go making heavy contact with Berkley’s machine.
Berkley exited the race with left front suspension damage, with Hally able to restart.
Brims was promoted to pole position for the restart and got a great launch to lead the opening circulation from Pascoe, Gee, Hughes and Black.
Williams had momentum on the outside and looked to rail the topside around Black, but over rotated the car and spun copping heavy contact from Atkins, Nicola and Hockley.
Williams and Hockley were out, with Atkins and Nicola able to restart despite suffering heavy damage.
Brims led at the resumption from Pascoe, Gee, Hughes and Black inside the top five.
Brims and Pascoe broke away from the chasing pack, as Gee separated himself from Hughes and Black in the battle for fourth.
Brims and Pascoe showed their class as they continued to build their lead over the rest of the field.
Just as Gee was beginning to close the gap to the lead pair, he lost power and headed infield. Gee’s car re-fired before finally expiring and relinquishing third position to Hughes.
Hughes held third position for just three laps before suffering a right front puncture. The caution flag would fly after Northfield made heavy contact with the main straight wall before coming to a stop in turn one.
Brims led at the restart with eighteen laps remaining from Pascoe, Black, Atkins and Granger.
Brims and Pascoe were again able to gap the field as Pascoe began to develop a line for himself on the top of the track.
Pascoe built up his momentum on the outside and sailed right around Brims into the lead with nine laps remaining.
Pascoe would pace the field unchallenged on his way to a $20000 pay day for the second year in a row.
Brims crossed the line in second, ahead of Atkins who claimed the final spot on the podium on the thirty fifth and final lap.
Black was next across the line in fourth, ahead of Granger in fifth as the final car on the lead lap.
Nicola crossed the line in sixth, from Musch in seventh, Hally in eighth, Potts in ninth, and Doyle in tenth.
The McCosker Super Sedan Series will conclude with the Grand Finale at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway on May 30th.
